the reason mostly why i listen to music is because the lyrics actually mean something to me. If a song just sounds cool it doesn't last too
long with me. A song is good because and makes me feel a certain way. If its in another langauge i don't know the meaning = don't like
the song for the most part....well thats how i feel anyway and i am too dumb and stubborn to learn any other languages mines hard enough already

Many Europeans and even South Americans enjoy English music regardless of whether or not they can understand the lyrics. It's a cultural thing,
they just enjoy the music for what it is and they like the lyrics too even though they may not understand.

Most of the time I listen to music in English, because the songs have more meaning as I can understand them. A Finnish band called Nightwish have
nearly all their songs in English but a couple in Finnish, which my finnish grandma translated and they sound beautiful.
Other languages have good music too, I can listen to Rammstein (Even though I wouldn't personally buy their album or anything) and other foreign
bands in other languages is all good. Songs in English just mean more to me coz I can understand the messages coming across etc.

I think I am pretty opposite to SideO - I mostly listen to a song for the guitars in it, and any tunes, rather than the lyrics. Because of that, I
don't mind listening to music in other languages at all. However, it can be annoying when I keep laughing at the funny/stupid/both noises the
vocalist is making and can't concentrate on the music, or whatever I'm doing at the time

I think much of it has to do with availablity. You just really don't find much foreign language music around here. No one really goes out
looking for it in general either. Around the world English music tends to be widely available, so people there have more exposure to it.

I wouldn't worry, Luciano, I knew what you meant and I expect everyone else did too. To put it in perspective, you get some english-speaking
people making such bad mistakes when writing in their own language that you can't even understand what they're saying sometimes. I'd
give an example, but I can't be bothered. It's not so much on this board thankfully. There's no problem reading your posts. Unless
you speak that frickin spanish to dez all the time...

Los Totitos/Toquitos.. that would be a crazy band name. But Luciano, usually I get the base of what your trying to say. So there's not much of a
language barrier between you and the rest of us.

I too am drawn first and foremost to english songs because I love lyrics. I'm a poet at heart and have a real passion for the written/sung word.
However, I am definitely open to music in other languages. For instance, I really enjoy the work of Sigur Ros (an Icelandic band) despite the fact
that I can't understand anything they sing. Good music should be able to surpass the language barrier, but very few artists manage to do that.

when i listen some songs, and dont know what they say but liked the music, i usually translate it, i don't care about the language, i just try
to find if the music is related to the meaning of the song. maybe it's because latinamericans are more used to hear another languages via music
or TV, and it's really important to me, know what i'm hearing or reading

For me as a german I hear a lot of music in english (or am forced to ... you know what I mean) The only problem is that it takes a while to get the
meaning of the lyrics.
Sadly there are not much german-singing bands that I like, but if you wanna try some, check out Oomph! (okay, half german, half englisch songs),
Herzer or Weissglut.
The good thing of singing english is that (nearly) everyone understands you. If you sing in another language (mostly) only the citizens of your
country understand...
