i dont have a tv either, rendring a dvd player pretty useless. unless of course i get one for the computer, but that costs 100s of £s which is quite a lot to pay to be able to watch one dvd...

The album is really good. The only thing I don't like is that there is not one guitar solo!!!

I think the no solos thing is because they're trying to stress metallica as a band. I've heard they didn't want to single out any one member above another.

nu-metal isn't a genre. Something isn't nu-metal just because there are no solos. Personally I enjoy St. Anger. However, I have more bones to pick with that record than any other Metallica record. The production is not good, which is what they were going for. The drums overpower the guitars at somepoint.

At other points the vocals seem like they took the first take to get a raw feeling but it just turned out to be bad.

The songs are somewhat repetitive possibly because there arn't solos to keep things moving.

Kudos to them for never doing the same thing twice though.

It came today, yippee!

I agree with all that's said above, the drums do overpower everything else at times, but with an ego as big as Lars Ulrich's you have to expect that I guess.

However, it took a few plays to get used to, but I think it is one amazing mofo of an album.

i fucking hate all this genre bullshit. There are three types of music; there's great music, there's ok music, and, of course, there is shite music.

Yeah, it's definitely Metallica back at it's roots... minus the awesome ballads, and the incredible solos, and the jaw dropping riffs both guitar and bass (gotta love the bass for Battery and Sanitarium). But yeah, other than that it's definitely nice and thrashy like their old stuff, oh wait, I forgot to mention, they detune for their power chords now, they must be getting better.

I really don't like their new album, had no problems with any others from Kill 'Em All to Reload, but St Anger is the worst kind of crap a band could release without it being by Slipknot.

Correction, the only 3 kinds of music are:

Pop music
Art Music
Folk Music.

Think about it, everything fits into those categories.

Hmmm, so they used more than 2 notes a song on Iowa? And they weren't tuned down about 5 steps?

*slight exxageration on both parts, but only slight*

Harrier attack would be pop. Anything that a lot of people listen to is pop.

Genres can cross over. Folk can be Pop too and Pop can be folk.
