introduce eachother to some new music

I thought there was a topic like this already, but I searched and couldn't find anything.

I have been really into listening to new stuff lately and really need some help. It's kinda hard to find stuff without any.

There is one band in particular I would like some good ideas of songs to listen to - Mudvayne. I heard the song "world so cold" the other day and I am in love with it. I never took these guys serious because I figured they were just another gimmicky band with their makeup. I have heard the song "dig", but I didn't like it as much.

Anyway, I am up for anything. So just tell me some songs you think I may like and I will listen to them. Thanks.

And a few songs for you guys to listen to, if you're interested. "The moment"-shyne factory, "meant to live" - switchfoot, "are we really happy" - moneen.

Those are just a few songs I have heard recently that I have enjoyed. The shyne factory song is hard to find, but I think it is a killer summertime driving song.

All right...I have listened to all of them. Except the F11 song, because I already have heard it. And the fullblast song, because it wouldn't work when I tried to download it.

First off...the dream theatre songs were great. I knew Petrucci was good, I just had never heard much of his band. Only thing is there were 2 different songs called change of seasons. One was about 7 minutes long and the other was 23 minutes long. I didn't listen to the 23 minute one.

Steve Vai is gold. If you want to give me other suggestions on him, that would be great. The only song I can remember hearing by him was sisters, and I love that song.

Westpoint was good. Still would like to hear your new singer, though.

Cryptopsy. Ya, that was fucked up music....insanely talented group there. But not my cup of tea.

Boys night out. I liked the song when it got mellow mostly, but the heavier stuff didn't really catch me.

Idle sons was great. I really enjoyed it. The beggining sounds so much like another song, I just can't put my finger on it. Possibly a U2 song?

Silverstein was really good. It had the perfect amount of screaming and mellow singing. I like screaming, but just a moderate amount of it. I was very surprised how many results I got when I typed their name in. I guess they are doing well. Isn't a former livid member in this band?

Awesome. Thanks guys.

I'm going to have to listen to your songs later, Ian. Already have the finger eleven songs, though. I was one of their biggest fans ever back in the day.

Shane Told (vocalist) played bass for the Livid. He played on the FOF CD.

Have you heard Slow Chemical by F11 Rievax? I think it's only on a WWF compilation.

Yeah, but look at what they're improving on, it's not like they had to do much, all the guitarist had to do was play four notes in a song and he's improved. And don't get me started on those damn percussionists, the retards who just run around hitting each other, grrr, but I'm going to stop. I've got to remember to just keep reminding myself "to each his own, to each his own", it helps get me through the times when people say they like Slipknot, or when people say Britney Spears was robbed of an Oscar for Crossroads (yes, someone I know actually believes this).

get the new hoobastank cd too, if your a fan of their music. it's awesome! in my opinion, better than their other cd, cause it's not as poppy. it doesn't sound like they wrote any of those songs to please anyone but themselves. just like the livid, and lostprophets. yay!

I'm still yet to download some music. I only just woke up and it is snowing...alot! I have to shovel my driveway.

Why don't you tell me some of their really good songs, Chris?
From what I have heard, I wouldn't even compare them to slipknot. I think slipknot is shit. I've seen them live and I felt they were all about the image and not the music. Apparently the guitar players are actually quite amazing, it just doesn't suit the slipknot style. That's enough about slipknot, though.

I'll check out a few of the offspring songs, but I was never a big fan of them.

I have heard slow chemical. And all I can say is I don't like anything after blue skies. It sounds like I am being stuborn, but I really dislike it all. I wish I were wrong.

"Hey Ya"---Outkast.
I don't care if this isn't rock....this song can change my mood ANYDAY.
And, no matter how many times I listen to it...I still feel an urge to "shake it like a polaroid picture".
LISTEN TO IT! thanks.

"Hey Mama"---Black Eyed Peas
Okay...no words can describe this song, I love it..and I feel like doing something whenever I hear it...and yeah..I'll just stop right there..

(Drumroll please)
and now...the TOP "new" song on my list that you should ALL listen to if you haven't already.....

"Are you gonna be my girl"---Jet.
OK....this song....not only did it made me want to buy an ipod ,but it's just so catchy, so "happy"..and, I love it.
I actually had absolutely no idea on who sang this or whatever, so I asked Rob, who wasnt able to help me...but that's okay haha.

So..there you go.
2 songs are non-rock...the other one kinda is.

Dez

*cough*
buy the justintimberlake album

I actually love that outkast song. I think most people do. When they play a song like that on 102.1, you know you have a very universal song.

I however, don't really like that song. But don't worry, most people do. I just have this crazy feeling that the main riff was stolen.

Timberlake has alot of talent, but he is never gonna see a penny from me.

Well, I said "buy" the album because I'm probably the most anti-download person out there...but yeah.

As long as you don't bash him, I'm alright with you not buying the album.

(grr, now im listening to "hey ya" on the radio,it's addictive)

Oh, I agree with the downloading. To a point, though. I think it is a great tool for finding new music. If I like/love the music, I will most deifinetely buy the album. I only own about 12 burned CD's and they are all singles, because I don't think I should buy a cd for 1 or 2 songs. I have wasted to much money on shit Cd's.

i used to waiste my money on shit cds too, but after i started downloading, i knew what i was gunna get, before i actually bought it. but i do have over 45 cds, so im not frowned upon by the anti-download people. i respect them, but i think downloading can be a very helpful tool, when used correctly. i also helps me discover new music. that is how i discovered the livid, one of my top 5 fav band today... that's just my 2 cents.

Ok I was at the Burlington Music center yesterday for the Illscarlett show and there were alot of kick ass bands playing. I really loved two bands in particular. Beautiful Nothing and Eleven Minutes Away. I really liked Beautiful Nothing because they had a different sound. Their vocalist did sound a bit like Marilyn Manson, though. And Eleven Minutes away sounds like Thursday/Taking Back Sunday/ Alexisonfire all rolled into one. You can download the songs off the sites. I suggest you check them out.
