dnot let mr dolinaba paly wtih yuor haed

Aoccdrnig to rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer are in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by it slef but the wrod as a wlohe.

Amid the chaos of that day, when all I could hear was the thunder of gunshots, and all I could smell was the violence in the air, I look back and am amazed that my thoughts were so clear and true, that three words went through my mind endlessly, repeating themselves like a broken record: you're so cool, you're so cool, you're so cool. And sometimes Clarence asks me what I would have done if he had died, if that bullet had been two inches more to the left. To this, I always smile, as if I'm not going to satisfy him with a response. But I always do. I tell him of how I would want to die, but that the anguish and the want of death would fade like the stars at dawn, and that things would be much as they are now. Perhaps. Except maybe I wouldn't have named our son Elvis.

That's fantastic.

Odd thing is, half the words looked correct to me until I went back and looked.

Most probably read so fast as most of the words are generally smaller. yuo konw lkie tniy.

Your mind actually screws up your perception a lot more than you probably realize. It has a tendency to "smooth" out little ambiguities in what you see and hear all the time.
Check this one out... it's crazy. It's a video of a guy saying "gah", but the audio has been editted so that it sounds like he is saying "bah".
If you listen to the audio by itself you hear "bah" but if you listen AND watch the video at the same time then you will hear "tha" or "dah". This will happen whether you want it to or not. Trippy.

Oh my god that's freaky! When I look at it and listen I hear "Gah", but when I don't look at him it sounds like "bah" clear as day. Wild..

I keep doing it over again and even if I'm just looking at the guys eyes or hair, I hear "gah".

When I turned the volume up, I heard "dah". When I showed my girlfriend, she heard "dah", then I told her to look at his eyes and she said she heard "bah". She didn't know what the hell I was doing.

Back to what Dobs originally posted... I never actually saw a source listed for the alleged research which the jumbled statement makes reference to. I did some research and found that this is actaully mostly bullshit. Some guy did do a thesis on this at Nottingham University in 1976. His findings were a lot less dramatic than the above statement claims... It is in fact very difficult to decipher many words scrambled according to the rules mentioned above.

Read an article by a guy who works at the university where this research allegedly took place HERE.

Well, whether it's BS or not, Joel's little paragraph made perfect sense to me.

That is really weird... I have the page open at that exact address...

I used a google search to find the page. It was the first hit using the search:

English word read "letter order"

Maybe that will work...

It seems that in the time it took me to write that post, the page went down... try again later is all I can say...
