Stairway to heaven
Ok, I'm sure everyone has heard at one point in time about a song that, if played backwards, has satanic messages in it. Someone on another
board I visit reversed "stairway to heaven" to hear if the accusations were true or not and recorded it. It's sorta creepy
really.
Original lyrics:
"If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now/ It's just a spring queen fo the may queen/ Yes, there are two
paths you can go by, but in the long run there's still time to change the road you're on"
Reversed:
"oh, here's to my sweet satan/ The one whose little path would make me sad, whoose power is satan/ He'll give you 666, there was a
little tool shed where he made us suffer, sad satan"

I really don't think someone thought one day that they'll go find satanic lyrics in the song of the last centry, IMO. Abba is the same
spelt backwards, does that relay a satanic message??? NOOOOOOOOOoooOOOO. Thank you.
one last show.

man that is freaky shit. I used to love that song.
How do you communicate those emotions that are so intense that no physical expression or series of words can even scratch the surface?

Pardon my skepticism... but sounds like bullshit to me. Hey, I could be wrong, but if you tell someone what to hear, they will probably hear it. I
strongly doubt anyone would have heard that if they weren't reading along. I listened first without reading what it was supposed to say, and
heard nothing like that. This is, of course, assuming the recording is legitimate to start with.

I agree with you Rob. However, it's interesting and that's why I posted it. I didn't read it at first listen, and I didn't
understand any of it. Then I read along and it was clear as day.
It could very well be a coincidence. Aparently even Robert Plant doesn't even know how he wrote those lyrics...or what they mean, for that
matter.

You know what... I just relistened to it, and I think that Led Zeppelin was possessed by an evil spirit... possibly Satan, but not likely since he is
very busy. I think some lesser demon possessed them by Satan's will and forced them to write lyrics that would openly worship the overlord,
Satan... but only when played in reverse.
But seriously, it certainly is interesting. I won't deny that I did hear the very words suggested by your post when listenening to the audio.

Not really. It wont sound like anything unless you are following along with the words above.
You know what is creepy, Rob? The fact that your original "sceptical" post was your 666th post.

Wow, just listened to it.
I was only able to make out the last part..from the 'he'll give you 666' on, the rest was much harder to hear..or maybe my speakers
aren't loud enough.
Edit: and, I apologize..the "i.d" "b4-4" comment should have been on the other thread about bands, i dont know how I
ended up posting it here.

Jimmy Page produced every Led Zepplin album so it stands to reason that he would most likely be behind the message if it truely were intended to be
there.
Also, it is well known that all of the members of Led Zepplin dabbled in Magik at one time or another. Among them, it is most well known that Jimmy
Page was the heaviest into Magik.
It IS a very strange occurance though. I have the original record. I might try to spin it backwards and see for myself as long as I know it
won't ruin my record.
Another interesting thing to note that makes me think this is fake, is that if you spell out the words 'yes there are two paths you can go by
but in the long run' phoenetically and then write them backwards they don't produce the syllables you hear in the backwards version. For
example, none of the words contain the flat 'a' sound contained in satan.
Another interesting note:
that toolshed stuff, its because Jimmy Page bought a castle previously owned by allister crowly (renown satanist), and there was a small one room
structure off to the side that supposedly, according to crowly, served as some satanic purpose. Crowly also reffered to the structure as "the
toolshed" (and get this, supposedly, there was a church that was burned to the ground with its people inside on the very spot the castle was,
freaky huh? especially since rituals had been performed in there).
Alright, this is fucked. I just recorded myself singing the lyrics forward. I then busted open the tape and reversed the reels. At first I got
nothing except slurred bullshit. So Then I went back and listened to the way Robert Plant sings it and tried to emulate it exactly.
I take back my comment about the syllables not matching phoenetically. When I sang it correctly, then reversed the reels, I could hear myself saying
the messages involving satan.
I'm off to spin Zep IV backwards. I'll post what I hear.
I just listened to the song almost twice through backwards. Here is what I heard:
At 50 and 70 second there was some strange shit going on that I couldn't make out. It was different than the other garbled nonsense though.
Sounded like it could have been some sort of language.
150 seconds something like "ahhhhhh ohhhhh my satan was always sweet." Something comes after this, but i cant make it out. Maybe it was
not intended to be understood backwards.
Around 200-220 seconds, the long satan 666 toolshed talk.
Around 250 seconds and beyond it's very strange, but i distintly hear "if i?? off of me ??" Around 268 "Wish the
lord."
This is just what they sounded like to me of course.
I keep hearing things like "i wish.. then after it sounds like he says "it would snow."??? and "i wish that" "i
wish blahblah" around 380 seconds
"baby, (if it were sunny out?) ???"
Also, the lyrics to stairway were written very quickly as Robert Plant listened to Jimmy Page, Bonhem and J.P. Jones jammed out the arrangement of the
tune. Maybe he was channeling a demon. Then again, could be a conincidence.

Stairway is one of my favorite songs ever. i was going to say that it sounded like the guy cut up the song and peiced it together so it sounded like
that, untill Jeff posted his findings. man that is strange. i dont know what to think now.
